PlusZero Receives Funding Award To Explore Zero-Carbon Events Solutions

Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc Innovation Challenge grant to support research into green hydrogen potential for power and heat at outdoor events.

Clean power start-up PlusZero has welcomed an award from the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) which will fund research into expanding PlusZero’s suite of green hydrogen-powered solutions to support the decarbonisation of the events sector.

MSIP - a joint venture between Michelin, Scottish Enterprise, and Dundee City Council - is a world-class Innovation Parc in Dundee for sustainable mobility and decarbonisation, which aims to drive growth and diversity in the Scottish economy whilst addressing the global climate emergency.

A competitive funding call for the first MSIP Innovation Challenge was launched in July, with PlusZero being one of eight successful companies. Two grants of £5,000 will support research and feasibility studies into the creation of events space heaters and smaller-scale generators powered by green hydrogen, which would be additional innovations to PlusZero’s large-scale clean power offering.

The MSIP grants will support research in the coming months, with a view to the findings supporting the development of product prototypes and events partner engagement.

David Amos, Managing Director of PlusZero, said:

“I am delighted that PlusZero has been successful in securing the Innovation Challenge funding from the MSIP and look forward to working with our technical partners Logan Energy and CMB.TECH on advancing this pioneering research into the potential for green hydrogen to offer end-to-end solutions for the events sector.

“I am very grateful to MSIP for its support towards PlusZero’s ambition to decarbonise the events sector and am hugely excited to work collaboratively with MSIP in its aim to accelerate progress to net zero.”
