Scottish Clean Power Start-Up To Energise Zero-Emissions Outdoor Events At COP26
PlusZero demonstrates “ready-to-go solution” to decarbonising the events sector at COP26 using green hydrogen.
Scottish clean power start-up PlusZero will energise a series of events at COP26 this week, in a further demonstration of its ready-to-go solution that can decarbonise the outdoor events sector using Scottish green hydrogen.
PlusZero, launched in 2020 by founder David Amos, creates portable, zero-carbon generators that are powered by green hydrogen from renewable electricity generated on the Scottish islands, with the aim of replacing greenhouse gas-emitting diesel generators.
The company will showcase its pioneering green hydrogen-fueled generator at COP26 in Glasgow this week when it provides zero-emissions power for marine engineering experts Malin Group’s Spotlight Series, hosted beside their iconic South Rotunda headquarters just 130 metres from the conference’s Blue Zone.
Founder and Managing Director of PlusZero, David Amos, said:
“There is no better place to showcase the huge potential of clean portable power than at COP26, and I am delighted that PlusZero has been invited by Malin Group to provide power for its Spotlight Series.
“There is growing interest in the development of green hydrogen as part of Scotland’s renewable energy mix, and PlusZero’s pioneering generator provides a ready-to-go solution which can decarbonise the outdoor events sector now.
“To meet pressing net zero targets and play a fulsome role in limiting global temperature rises, every sector is required to take urgent action to decarbonise. The Malin Spotlight Series is leading by example, using PlusZero’s innovative green hydrogen generator to power the Zero Emission Shipping and Energy Day Conferences.
“Having completed a series of successful demonstrations at the Edinburgh International Festival earlier this year, we are excited to continue our journey in harnessing the vast potential of Scottish green hydrogen as we strive towards decarbonising the outdoor events sector.”
Chris Dunn, Principal Naval Architect from Malin Group said: “As an organisation, we are passionate about fostering change and encouraging innovation - with the latter forming one of our core brand values, alongside expertise.
“In creating the Malin Spotlight Series we continued in our commitment to select the most sustainable choices - from the locally sourced, sustainable food that we will be serving on site, with all unused food going to Help the Homeless Glasgow, to the power we are using to energise the event - in this case, PlusZero’s pioneering hydrogen generator. We are thrilled to have David and the team on site during our event, to enable us to visually showcase the potential future for decarbonisation.”
